Male Genital Warts
The Basic Information
If you are a man and find that you have all of a sudden some moles of lesions on the tip of your penis, you might be infected with HPV or male genital warts. What are male genital warts? What is HPV? This is the short form of human papillmavirus – the virus that causes the warts on your penis and other areas in your genital region.
How Is The HPV Contacted?
The HPV is normally contacted through sexual intercourse; though sometimes the virus can infect a man after sharing of underwear or towels. This is why the HV is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the world. It is estimated that at least 60% of the whole world population would at sometime or other suffer from this affliction.
The infected person however, would not know that he was infected until the symptoms are visible and or experienced. In the meantime, the virus could be passed on to all those with whom the infected person has sexual contact. In this way the virus would be replicated in many people – who in turn would infect others and so on.
The symptoms of male genital warts that would indicate infection in men would be burning sensation in the genital area, intense itching, tiny lesions on the tip of the penis and an unexplained discharge. The lesions could also be seen on the scrotal sac, on the perineum and around the anus. If left untreated, the tiny lesions would gradually grow into grotesque looking warts which would not only give intense pain but also bleed during sexual intercourse – if the person would be capable of getting a partner.
What Is The Best Treatment For Male Genital Warts?
There is no best treatment for male genital warts as this is prescribed by the doctor according to the symptoms that the person experiences – and this differs from person to person. There is no cure for this virus – as there is no cure for any virus that infects humans. However, it is possible to minimize the effect that it has on the body of the infected person by treating is symptomatically. In case the male genital warts have already been formed, then these would have to be removed as their touch would promote further infection.
Getting Rid Of Male Genital Warts Is Not Easy
The male genital warts can be removed through a number of methods. However, each of the method have their plus and minus points. It is definitely not easy to get rid of warts – but if you look on the bright side, it is fortunate that it is possible to have them removed. The most popular method is with the over-the-counter-medication – though this is not the best choice. However, because men feel too conscious about visiting a doctor, most of them prefer the self-treatment methods.
The safest way is to let a professional handle the removal of male genital warts. There are ways to remove warts with the help of laser, with chemicals such as TCA or trichloracetic acid or with the help of cauterization which is done with electric current. You could choose the methods that suits you best after having a thorough discussion with your doctor.
