Plantar’s Warts

What Is This Condition All About?

Warts are a terrible physical affliction, though medically harmless, caused by a virus called Verruca Vulgaris. It is very easy to catch this virus just as it is easy to catch flu. Most of the times people get infected around shower rooms they walk barefoot around pools or in the locker rooms. The virus very easily enters the body through the tiniest breach/ crack in the feet and it reaches the blood in no time. What results is the plantar’s warts.

Plantar actually means the bottom of the foot – and in fact this is the place where the plantar’s warts would develop. The virus usually enters through the feet, but this can also happen if there is a breach in the skin anywhere else – it could be the hands, it could any other place in the body.

What Is A Wart?

Many people have heard of warts but do not know what they actually are or how do they look. The plantar’s warts develop as tiny lesions at first which grow inwards rather than outwards giving it the look of seeds. This is why many people refer to the plantar’s warts as seed warts – though there is absolutely no seed involved.

This condition is initially painless and not easily visible unless you are looking for it as the lesions that form on the bottom side of the foot are colorless and hardly raised above the skin. However, with the passage of time, these small lesions grow inwards first resembling a seed, and then exploding into a large group of warts. When the plantar’s warts are fully developed, they are quite painful and make a not-too-pretty picture as well.

In order to identify the plantar’s warts – why not look up the Internet searching for pictures of warts. This could give a fair idea about what exactly this condition would look like in different stages of development so you would know whether or not you are suffering from this condition. In case you have the slightest doubt that you have indeed the virus, you would do good to immediately consult a doctor.

Looking For The Best Treatment For Plantar’s Warts

There is not much to do against the virus since modern medicines are impotent against this type of organism. However, there are many ways in which you would be able to reduce the discomfort pain caused by the warts. When then warts are too big and do not respond to normal treatment, the doctor may advise to have them surgically removed.

You could also consider plantar wart removal through the use of liquid nitrogen or laser surgery. There are many alternative medicines available which have proven beneficial for the condition – more so when there is no possibility to remove the warts surgically yet they are too painful to leave untreated.

Prevention Is Always Better Than Cure

Instead of running for treatment and ways for getting rid of warts, it is better to avoid contacting it altogether. This can be done by ensuring that you wear slippers when you move in locker rooms and shower rooms.
